May 02 The DaVinci CodeDaVainci has always been known for his puzzles and brain teasers. Even the authenticity of the holy shroud has been questioned by numerous experts. One of the most prevalent theories is that the impression of Jesus on the shroud could have been merely an image created by a form of photography of DaVinci himself, albeit in an ingenius manner to fool the experts. Leonardo DaVainci has been accused of creating many 'hoaxes' before, even the portrait of Mona Lisa is still an item of major speculation and interest due to the confusion regarding her true identity. Some say Leonardo DaVinci actually painted a picture of himself! Although that is still in dispute and it is not irrevocable. The DaVinci code is a book that questions and puts into doubt the most sacred beliefs and foundations of Christianity. It succecssfully tries to cast a blanket of doubt about the authenticity and integrity of Jesus as a man of God. The biggest stumbling block seems to be the fact that this book consists of a mix of both fact and fiction, thereby leaving its readers in the lurch, not knowing what to make of the story. Although Dan Brown may have successfully made hundreds of people think secretly to themselves and some even openly say out loud that 'Christianity is a farce', he unwittingly simultaneously brought out one irrefutable truth........... ........that 'Christianity today is a highly tolerant religion'! How many other religions would have tolerated an author writing material that tries to make a mockery of its very foundation? How many other religions would have let an author sell Millions of copies and still be able to walk on the streets with his head high? How many religions would consist of people who would be prepared to read the book and still be tolerant of the author, without wanting some form of moderate or even extreme retribution against the author or even the book stores that sell such books? As much as there were many explicit questions put forth by the book, I feel there are numerous thought provoking implicit questions such as the ones mentioned above, that are worth pondering about, in order to put things into perspective.
